As requested by many Roland E-X50 and E-X30 users, we have produced popular styles from Kalimantan. These styles are suitable for use at events and ceremonies.
The Kalimantan Styles included are as follows:
Japin:Â Zapin is a dance music originating from the country of Yaman, which is popular among the Melayu community in Indonesia. Zapin is believed to have entered the archipelago under the influence of Persians and Arabs who acculturated the local Malay culture while spreading Islamic teachings from the Middle East around the fourteenth century. The accompanying music is composed of two main instruments, the Gambus string instrument and three Marwas/Marawis percussion instruments.
Karungut:Â Karungut is a musical art from Central Kalimantan (Dayak). Karungut art is the art of speech, a kind of rhyme or poetry delivered in the Dayak language. This art is very communicative, because in climbing it contains moral values, customs, struggle, and even a message of enthusiasm to build. The accompanying musical instruments in the Karungut performance are the kecapi Dayak , katambung/drum, gong, flute.
Melayu Sambas:Â Sambas Melayu music comes from West Kalimantan. This music uses the Tahar musical instrument. The Sambas Melayu rhythm is commonly used to accompany Tari Persembahan, Pesta Adat, Penyambutan tamu kehormatan, religious activities and wedding celebrations.
Panting:Â Panting music is an original musical art from the Banjar ethnic in South Kalimantan. The main musical instrument in Panting music is a stringed instrument called panting. Panting is played together with flutes, violins, drums, kempul, gongs, marawis, ketipung and tambourines.Panting music is included in the chordophone type music with diatonic scales.
Tingkilan:Â Tingkilan is a type of musical art from the Kutai community in East Kalimantan. This music was born with the arrival of Islam to Kutai and has more or less the same sound as other Melayu arts. Tingkilan is a satire in the form of rhymes, containing criticism and suggestions, and conveyed by singing accompanied by Gambus, Ketipung, and Kendang musical instruments.
